TFA Massachusetts
2021-2022 Alumni Leadership Development Programs

*All programs other than mentoring are open to alum and non-alum in our partner schools.

Hello! I’m Piel Hollingsworth (South Louisiana, ‘92), Managing Director of Alumni Leadership Development. As a long-time teacher and school leader, I am excited to be supporting alumni teachers and leaders in schools!

At TFA - Massachusetts, we believe that schools are the unit of change. We remain committed to doing all we can to ensure there are strong teachers in every classroom, but know that we need to focus more broadly than individual classrooms. Where we see the most examples of progress, both locally and nationally, are within schools that are consistently providing truly transformational educational opportunities for the low income students they serve. We want to help create an ecosystem of great schools with the potential for lasting and scalable impact. With this vision in mind, we know that transformational schools are created and sustained by teachers and leaders who continually build their skills and stay in the work at the school level.

To that end, TFAM is intentionally increasing its supports for alumni educators -- including offering a number of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on leadership, coaching, culture, and operations; providing large scale professional development trainings; and ongoing leadership coaching. In addition, we are actively connecting classroom teachers to professional development opportunities, fellowships, and awards that help teachers build their skills as well as their professional and community networks.

TFAM’s investment in alumni educators is intended to support and sustain teachers and leaders in the incredibly challenging and critical work of building and sustaining amazing schools.

If you have questions, suggestions, or feedback about professional development for alumni educators, email me!
